FETAL DNA in maternal blood
The Non-Invasive Prenatal Test allows you to know the genetic health of your baby from a sample of maternal blood.
It is performed from the 10th week of the pregnancy with a maternal blood sample that contains DNA from both the mother and the baby, which does not involve risks or pain.
This study makes it possible to detect the most common chromosomal abnormalities, microdeletion syndromes and the sex of the baby. It can be performed for single pregnancies, multiple pregnancies and pregnancies by donation of eggs and/or sperm
The sample is taken in our lab with a previous appointment. No prior preparation or fasting is necessary. The result is delivered within 7 to 10 business days after the sample is taken
While the generally used methods, amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling, are INVASIVE and carry a risk of miscarriage; this prenatal test requires only one blood draw and is safe for both mother and baby.
